a dog found us!
This weekend I drove down to Paoli to hang out with Chad for some "free teacher ski night" at Paoli Peaks. I did enjoy myself so much more on the skis than my last time with the snowboard :) When we got back to Chad's house, a dog greeted us at the drive way. Chad said that he thought is was the neighbors so we took him over to see if the dog was theirs. The neighbors didn't claim him and he didn't have any tags on him. He was covered in mud and had several marks on his body where he had been hurt. We decided to hold him in the garage while we ran to Walmart to get him some food and shampoo. I called and talked to my landlord at home to see if Zack and I could keep our new little friend. She so kindly said YES and we decided to name our new friend Miles. He is adorable. We think he is a beagle and doxin mix. So I gues you call him a "Doxle"?? We are guessing that he is probably less than 1 year old. Miles already knows to go to the bathroom outside. (yeah!) Zack has been teaching him how to "sit" and "lay down". We've been enjoying taking him to the park for a run a couple times a week. He's a great little companion! We can't wait for you to meet him!

Weekend at the Peaks
Happy 2009! This weekend Zack and I drove down to Paoli to visit Chad. We spent most of the time at the peaks. All 3 of us snowboarded....this was my first time on a board instead of skis! I did extremely terrible. They were both super patient with me though while I learned. I think I spent more time on my butt than I did on my feet. We had a great time though. Next time I think I will stick with skis :)

Happy 70th Birthday Grandpa!
Grandpa Jerry turned 70 today! The whole family surprised him by "randomly" showing up for dinner. Dinner was awesome. As we were leaving, a hummer pulled up to the curb and it took all of us up to Anderson to go gambling. :) Most of us didn't get too lucky and win any money, but we definitely had a blast together. Happy Birthday Grandpa!

europe
for more pictures of the trip click "europe" above!
europe was a blast. we are so thankful that we got the opportunity to take the time to go. As soon as work let out we headed to the airport. our first stop was england, but only for a few brief hours before we hopped another plane to italy. in those few hours we went to buckingham palace and saw the guards stare straight ahead without ever moving.

once we got to italy we stopped in venice. this is such a cool city with water surrounding everywhere! st. mark's square was breath taking.

our next stop in italy was a visit to the farrari museum :) zack was excited to see the 27 car of Gilles Villeneuve.

rome was our final stop in italy. zack enjoyed driving through the chaos and got us to where we needed to go without any problem. the traffic is so crazy there! there are lines painted on the road, but no one follows them. to complicate it all there are bikers weaving in and out of the vehicles! we saw the colosseum and hiked around the city seeing all of the amazing architecture. we stopped in vatican city and walked 3.5 miles through the vatican city museum to see michelangelo's creation of adam painting on the ceiling sistine chapel. we made sure to eat lots of itallian pizza and gelato before we left the country :)

back in england we spent thanksgiving day in windsor. windsor castle was quite amazing. that night we hurried out to see stonehenge just before the sun went down. to complete the evening we couldn't resist to see the new james bond movie while we were in england.
the next day we took off to warwick and toured the warwick castle where i got my picture taken with THE queen. we ate lunch outside of st. Mary's church. it's quite a large beautiful place dating back to almost 900 years ago! that night we stopped by stratford upon avon to see where shakespeare was born and buried.
phillip and dora's wedding was absolutely wonderful. dora and her dress was absolutely stunning. it was a great was to end our trip :)

the hardest day ever...
I don't want to get all emotional...
Great grandma Nellie and our family dog Ashley passed away today. Grandma was 89 years old and Ashley was 14 years old. My heart just aches so much with grief. They both lived wonderful and happy long lives. They both brought so much love, joy, and happiness to our family. I know that they are in heaven now where they are no longer in any pain. Angels must be rejoicing that they are finally home. We deeply love and miss you both

McKinzie Reunion
We got together for family fun today at aunt Mar and uncle Buddy's house. The highlight of the afternoon was the water fight with the kids. :) It was hilarious to watch little Reece with the garden hose!

family summer vacation

We had a great vacation with the family. The fire works over the lake were the prettiest we have ever seen! We had a good location to see them up close. The island was absolutely beautiful. We did a little bit of hiking, a lot of biking, and some horseback riding. While we were on a trail with the horses, my horse decided to fall down to the ground and roll over while I was still on his back! It was a little crazy, but the horse was thankfully ok!

spring break

Chad and I headed off to Chicago to enjoy spring break together. We went to a Cubs game where we ate the biggest and messiest hotdog ever--seriously. We also walked around the city a little bit and had some famous chi town pizza. It was a good relaxing break--I think we are both now ready for school to be out and enjoy the summer :) 2 more months!

We are reminded of God's indescribable love and His gift of Jesus. We are reminded of the love He gave to us to share with others. We are so blessed to share life with these wonderful people. Our first Christmas was spent enjoying quality time with family and friends.

honeymoon!
we had a great time on our honeymoon in colorado! the first day we set out to colorado springs to see pike's peak. it was pretty impressive to find out that they have this race all the way up the mountain...it's almost as old as the running of the indy 500! after getting to our condo and settling in, we enjoyed skiing and snowboarding in keystone, vail, and breckenridge. all were very beautiful places to go enjoy the outdoors, but vail was probably the favorite. halfway through the week, there was a quite cute little mall where we also spent a day getting some christmas shopping done, hard to believe that christmas is just around the corner! our last day, we went to red rock park and ampithearture...(stellar place for a concert!). The rocks were absolutely amazing :) though we had a wonderful time on vacation, it is good to be home and start enjoying married life together!
